"Here We Become" is a 1993 song by Swedish creative person and film/music video manager Stakka Bo, released every bit the commencement single from his debut album, Supermarket. It features vocals by Swedish singers Nana Hedin and Katarina Wilczewski, and was very successful in Europe, charting in several countries. AllMusic editor Ryan Randall Goble stated that "this upbeat and fun pop music [is] the clear offspring of early on-'90s genre-angle in popular, hip-hop, and alternative".[two] J.D. Considine from The Baltimore Sun mentioned "the cutting critique of consumerism that bubbling below the surface", and called it "irresistibly catchy".[three] Larry Motion-picture show from Billboard wrote that "high on energy and heavy on the emphasis, this well-crafted British rap assault invades the body, mind, and soul." He added, "Conga drums and fluttering flutes join a strong-piped female backing vocal to create this eccentric, lively track. With radio finally opening its mind to overseas rap, this Stereo MC'south-like entry should fit correct in at both top 40 and rhythm crossover."[iv] Swedish newspaper Expressen viewed it as "very funny".[5] Katrine Band from Gaffa described the music video of "Hither We Get" as "charming".[vi]

Dave Sholin from the Gavin Report said that Stakka Bo "has a sound that's reminiscent of the Stereo MC's and 1 hot chorus that gets stronger every time it's played."[vii] Music writer James Masterton wrote in his weekly U.k. chart commentary, "Just for a change we have MTV to thank for this one. Then strong was this debut unmarried from the Swedish group that the music video channel which ordinarily gives dance a broad berth, leaped on it immediately." He ended, "One of the more than brilliant popular records in the charts at the moment."[8] Pan-European magazine Music & Media stated that he is "in the same league" with the Stereo MC'southward, and added that the tune is "very radio-friendly".[9] Alan Jones from Music Week called it a "impressive debut" and "an like shooting fish in a barrel-paced affair with a friendly rap, an oft-repeated femme voice intoning the title and some cool flute tootling, it'south got to happen."[10] James Hamilton from the magazine'south RM Dance Update described it as "Stereo MCs meet Ace Of Base of operations style".[11] Karen Holmes from The Network Twoscore noted the "ska music influences", adding information technology equally "a trip the light fantastic flavored pop single".[12]

Chart performance [edit]

"Hither We Go" became a major hit in Europe and remains the most successful release past Stakka Bo to appointment. It peaked within the Top 10 in Austria, Denmark, Iceland (number five), Ireland, Norway, Sweden (number four) and Switzerland.[13] Additionally, it was a Top 20 striking in Deutschland, kingdom of the netherlands and the United Kingdom, as well equally on the Eurochart Hot 100, where "Here Nosotros Become" entered on 26 June 1993 at number 76 and peaked at number 17 on 16 October. Music video [edit]

A music video was produced to promote the single, directed by Stakka Bo himself.[16] The video is set up in a splitscreen brown space with Stakka Bo and Oskar Franzén performing on each side, while model/dancer Alma Jansson-Eklund is intercut during the chorus, lipsyncing to Nana Hedin'south vocals. A wave movement car also appear. A image from the video is used on the cover for the single. "Here We Go" was later published on Stakka Bo's official YouTube channel in January 2016. The video has amassed more than than 5,5 million views as of September 2021.[17]

Use in media [edit]

The vocal appeared in an episode of the animated television series Beavis and Butt-Caput, in the films Prêt-à-Porter, Never Been Kissed, Conflicting Autopsy [eighteen] and in the video game UEFA Euro 2004.[xix]
